PITacademy is a Peer-owned, Peer-run, Tax-Exempt Organization. Those Peers include Military Veterans. The founder is a Veteran, 2 of his children are Veterans, 3 of his brothers and his father and grandfather are also Military Veterans. In the midst of this mental health crisis among Veterans, it seems dutiful to reach out and provide help the best way we can. Here are the projects which are currently our focus...

PROJECT 6:

This program brings Mental Health Recovery Training to Incarcerated Veterans. PITacademy contracts with trained Veterans to facilitate each individualized subject matter. Upon completion of all 12 modules, graduates receive a medallion... reminding them of their NEW mission to help themselves stay well... and help fellow veterans recover.

Peer Support Training

This program trains veterans to become Certified Mental Health Peer Support Specialists. PITacademy 46-hour Peer Specialist Training has been approved by the Iowa Board of Certification, The International Credentialing and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC), The United States Veterans Administration, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation and the Iowa Mental Health and Disability Services (MHDS).

In addition to the 46 hour state requirements, PITacademy has included 6 hours of Recovery Training more specific to Veterans:
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),
  • Survivor Guilt, and
  • Sexual Assault.

PITacademy can provide this training in any location with a minimum of 10 students.

We are currently looking to work with organizations that have the resources to help us provide the training in natural environments, so that after study, veterans can congregate together or go nature hiking, fishing, swimming, etc.

Something to Believe In-

This too...provides Veterans with a NEW MISSION: Get and stay mentally healthy...support and train others to do the same...and leave no one behind.
